Why this lift

The Pull-Up is a intermediate compound pull lift. It primarily loads Lats. Back, Biceps, Forearms, Shoulders help. You need pull-up bar. Most programs place it near the start of a session, while you are fresh. You may also hear it called Pull-Ups.

Vertical and horizontal pulls are how the back gets thick. A full stretch at the bottom is the part most people skip. Once the pattern feels automatic, most programs keep this as a weekly staple.

Common mistakes

How to program it

Treat the Pull-Up as a main lift: 3–5 working sets, add load or a rep when the last set still looks like the first. Leave isolation work for after.

If the Pull-Up does not agree with you, Archer Pull-Up trains Lats with a different setup.
